Erin Fults, PsyD, is a neuropsychologist at an outpatient neurorehabilitation center. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients with acquired brain injuries, including interventions to promote symptom management, cognitive rehabilitation, and psychotherapeutic treatment. Dr. Fults earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Long Island University and her bachelor's degree in philosophy-neuroscience-psychology at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to entering graduate school, she worked as a science writer/editor in Washington, DC, and she continues to engage in this passion by freelance editing and writing.

Behind every great applicant there are two main things: the paper and the person. The paper consists of the CV you’ve fine-tuned, the cover letters you’ve toiled over, the essays you’ve edited and re-edited, and anything else that a reviewer is receiving by e-mail or snail mail. You get a lot of time to perfect your materials and you wait for that exciting moment when you receive the invitation to interview.
Now it’s time for the person to shine.

Sure, you are surrounded by supervisors, professors, patients, and peers, but their focus is often on “the now.” These individuals are teaching, testing, and training you on a daily basis, but what about your next steps? What about your professional career, and the specific field you hope to enter?
